Everyone should be concerned about antibiotic resistance

It is bad that whenever someone has an infection, she/he insists to have an antibiotic therapy no matter the infection is caused by bacteria, virus, fungi or the other microbes. You should collaborate with your physician to avoild misuse of any antibiotics. Here is why.

Currently, antibiotic resistance is one of the world’s most pressing public health problems. Almost every type of bacteria causing human diseases has become stronger than what was 50 years ago. These antibiotic-resistant bacteria can quickly spread to family members, schoolmates, and co-workers – threatening the community with a new strain of infectious disease that is more difficult to cure and more expensive to treat.

When you are infected by any of these bacteria, you need to be treated with the antibiotics. However, if these bacteria are less responsive to antibiotic treatment, your treatment will be less effective. Therefore, the drug is almost useless when it is really needed for you. If a microbe is resistant to many drugs, even to all antibiotics, you could die from this infection as nothing can be used to save your life. For this reason, antibiotic resistance should become everyone’s concerns.

Antibiotic resistance can cause significant danger and suffering for children and adults who have common infections. Once upon time, it was easily treatable with antibiotics. Microbes can develop resistance to specific medicines. A common misconception is that a person’s body becomes resistant to specific drugs. However, it is microbes that become resistant to the drugs. There is nothing to do with your body.
